Truth: Candle soot is not harmful.
The small amount of soot produced by a candle is the natural by-product of incomplete combustion and is similar to the soot emitted by toasters
Myth: Paraffin wax is toxic.
Truth: Paraffin wax and soy wax burn equally clean. Both waxes are carbon-based and feed a flame in the same way.
Myth: Scented candles are not safe.
Truth: Consumers can be sure that a well-made and properly burned candle, scented or unscented, will burn cleanly and safely.
Myth: Candles should be extinguished with water.
Truth: Do not extinguish a candle with water. This can cause the wax to spread and can cause a glass container to break
Myth: You should burn a candle until there is no more wax.
Truth: For safety reasons, candles should not be burned when there is only 1cm or less of wax left in the container.
Myth: Candle wicks contain lead.
Truth: Lead wicks have been banned and, before that, were mostly used in low-cost imported candles.
